NATE READS THE CLASSICS: Meeting Captain Nemo

On part 3 of NATE READS THE CLASSICS: Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea by Jules Verne, we finally got to the part where we meet Captain Nemo. I guess technically we met him at the very end of part 2, we just didn’t know it yet. It’s proving to be a fun book, a lot more fun than I thought it would be, so watch the video it right now here!

NATE READS THE CLASSICS: Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne part 3

It is fascinating to read about the way people thought of electricity at that time. The idea that they thought electricity could only produce a limited amount of mechanical force is so hard to believe today. Hence, “Elon Musk would like a word.” They really thought coal and steam were the only way to go!

These three chapters do get a little too sciencey for some tastes I imagine, but I didn’t mind it. This is harder science fiction than I imagined, and it’s reminding me a bit of Dune, to be honest. Captain Nemo is turning out to be a fascinating character. I’m not going to lie, one of the biggest reasons I chose this book to read (again, this is my first time reading it) is the line in Back to the Future III where Doc Brown says “When I first read that as a boy I wanted to MEET CAPTAIN NEMO!” I’m starting to understand why now.

No trolls in the chat this time. Nobody at all in the chat as a matter of fact, but I don’t mind. It’s a late night stream for a reason, I’m not counting on getting a lot of visitors right then. Most of my views come from these blog posts anyway.

What About Parts 1 and 2?

Looking for the first two videos of NATE READS THE CLASSICS: Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea? Well, you’re in luck. They’re right here:

You’ll notice I’m using different cameras throughout this journey… I like the nicer camera in my phone, but the amount of control that using a PC gives me makes me prefer it, even if my webcam is garbage. Of course I could afford a better streaming camera if you donated to support this blog…
